four inventions for Lauryna
for piano
dedicated to my dear friend and pianist Lauryna Sableviciute
Duration: 15 minutes

I’m delighted to share this video recording of ‘Invention No. 4’ from ‘Four Inventions for Lauryna’ (2023), composed for and dedicated to my dear friend and pianist, the fabulous Lauryna Sableviciute. Lauryna premiered the piece on 17th August at the Stoller Hall, Hunts Bank, Manchester, alongside William Byrd’s Pavan – ‘The Earl of Salisbury’, earning widespread praise. She recorded this splendid video shortly thereafter.
I’m truly overjoyed with Lauryna’s performance. Her masterful balance of the intricate motific inner voices and the flowing upper and lower passages brings remarkable clarity, expressiveness and heart to the piece. This fills me with joy. Lauryna is eager to perform the remaining inventions in the future.
